A cannonball stuck in a wall. A street ninety centimetres wide. A statue the size of your hand that somebody knits a hat for every winter.

One of the things you’d walk past
At Stortorget 7, on the corner with Skomakargatan, a dark iron ball is built into the façade. A popular legend says it was fired during Gustav Vasa’s siege of Stockholm and narrowly missed Christian II. The less dramatic explanation is more likely: it was placed in the rebuilt house in 1795, long after the fighting.
That’s a whole Stadlo story - a short read, and then you’re looking at a wall instead of a screen. There are dozens more like it on this one island.
How Stadlo works
No account, no itinerary, no picking a tour first. Stadlo starts from wherever you happen to be standing - and only looks while it’s open.
Three to six things worth noticing, closest first, with roughly how long it takes to walk there. Curated, not every café on the block.
Every story ends by telling you exactly what to look for. Read it in under a minute, find the thing, carry on walking.

Starting with Gamla Stan
Stadlo covers Gamla Stan - Stockholm’s old town. It’s one island, roughly a square kilometre of medieval alleys, and we’ve walked all of it.
Everywhere else, the app says so plainly rather than padding the map with places we haven’t looked at. Covering a whole city thinly would make Stadlo feel empty in every part of it.
More neighbourhoods will follow, one at a time, once each one is worth the walk.
If you’ve got longer
Some days you’ve got fifteen minutes and no plan. Stadlo can join a handful of nearby stories into a short walk - geographically tight, pausable, and finished before you get bored.
Still no commitment. Stop anywhere, pick it up tomorrow, or never.

Five details hiding on the busiest street on the island.

There’s one longer walk written and sequenced by a local guide, for people who want an afternoon of it. Everything nearby stays free.
Early testing · Stockholm
We’re looking for a small group of people in Stockholm - residents, newcomers and visitors alike - to walk the island with an early build and tell us what’s dull, wrong or missing.
No meetings. One walk, whenever suits you, and an honest opinion afterwards.
